Osim likes to compare itself to one of the market leaders Inada. However, Inada has been making massage chairs in Japan and is considered one of the technology leaders. It is hard to think that someone who is using a third-party to create their chairs is better than one manufacturing them directly for thirty years.

There are a few interesting electronic features in this recliner. Sensors are used to accurately measure you before a massage. This is done in order to find the correct shiatsu pressure points.

This model also has an integrated music therapy system. The music therapy system is a little bit more than just listening to your favorite music. The massage is synchronized to and orchestrated by the music that is being played.

The synchronized music works by automatically altering the intensity of the rollers and altering the type of massage mode in response to the music. The mechanical rollers in the back respond to the bass sounds. Whereas, the leg vibration motors respond to the midrange frequencies.

You'll find that the Osim iSymphonic comes with 5 Healthcare programs. These are automatic programs which can be initiated with a single button. The remote control allows you to select each individual automatic program. Each of these has a different theme.

You have complete control over your massage. Each of the automatic massages last 15 minutes in duration. These are timed massages and the counter will count down when complete.

This massage chair is a powered recliner. The motorized recline can be adjusted from 120 to 170 degrees. Keep in mind that 180 degrees is completely horizontal. Simply push a button on the remote to recline the chair backwards.

This recliner also comes with an air massage system. There are specially designed airbags in the leg rests and on the seat. The leg massage uses vibration in conjunction with the airbags being activated. The chair lacks an arm massage.

The massage in the back could be a little stronger. I am a fan of deeper tissue massage and prefer that my massage chair is strong. This massage seemed a little weaker even when I removed the back cover. I reclined the chair back far but did not feel penetration to thoroughly relieve my stiffness.

Overall, I think that the Osim iSymphonic massage chair is a decent brand. Just because it is offered by Brookstone doesn't make it the best. There are many solid brands contending for your attention. These are perhaps easier to try because of the many outlets that Brookstone has. So if you are looking for a massage chair, the Osim iSymphonic massage chair is a good one to start to understand the basic features offered in a massage recliner.
